Author Guidelines

1. Scope and Policy

The WVSU Research Journal publishes peer-reviewed studies that contribute to academic and scientific advancement. The journal accepts only original works that have not been published or submitted elsewhere. Authors must ensure the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work. The journal supports ethical publication practices and encourages submissions from various disciplines relevant to the University’s research priorities.

2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscripts should be organized in the following sequence: title, abstract and keywords, text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion & Conclusion), acknowledgment if applicable, declaration of artificial intelligence use, conflict of interest, and reference list. This format promotes clarity and uniformity across submissions.

3. Title

The title appears at the top of the first page. It should be concise, specific, and informative. Below the title, indicate the full names of all authors and the institutional affiliations where the work was conducted. Include the name, address, and e-mail address of the corresponding author. A running head not exceeding fifty characters, including spaces and punctuation, should be included to identify the manuscript during the review process.

4. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract must contain a maximum of one hundred fifty (150) words. It should briefly describe the purpose, methods, main findings, and implications of the study. The abstract must remain concise and focused. Provide up to five keywords in alphabetical order, separated by commas. Keywords help index and identify the subject area of the study.

5. Formatting and Style

The manuscripts must use Helvetica font, size twelve, with single spacing on A4 paper measuring 8.27 by 11.69 inches. The total length of the manuscript should not exceed twenty pages, including tables, figures, notes, and references. All pages must be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals. Tables, figures, and graphs must use Helvetica font, size ten. Tables and figures must appear near the relevant text and follow the latest edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) format for labeling, titling, and note placement. Spelling must conform to the Merriam-Webster dictionary standard. All measurements, symbols, and abbreviations must follow the metric system.

6. Figures and Tables

Figures and tables must comply with the APA formatting standard. Each figure and table should include a number and a clear descriptive title. Any relevant note must appear immediately below the table or figure as prescribed by APA style. Figures and tables must be computer-generated and of publication quality. Photographs must have strong contrast and be labeled with figure numbers and the authors’ names on the back. Unpublished reports, ongoing research, or works in progress must not be cited.

7. References

All references must follow the most recent edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) style. Only works cited within the manuscript should appear in the reference list. The entries must be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author. Authors should ensure consistency and accuracy between the citations in the text and the entries in the reference list. Reference accuracy is the responsibility of the author.

8. Submission Process

Submit manuscripts electronically to researchjournal@wvsu.edu.ph. Acceptable file formats include Microsoft Word or Microsoft Document. Each submission must include the complete manuscript with all figures and tables placed in their correct locations within the text. Submissions must follow all formatting and style requirements specified in this guide to be considered for review.

9. Review and Decision

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review to ensure objectivity and quality. Three reviewers evaluate each submission, and at least two must recommend publication for the paper to be accepted. Reviewer comments are sent to the author for revision, and the revised version must be returned promptly. Once the revisions are approved, the manuscript proceeds to layout and proofing. Authors must submit proof of language editing before final acceptance of the paper.

The journal’s review process details are provided to the author together with the acknowledgment that the submission has been received.

10. Ethical and Legal Requirements

Authors must sign a Deed of Assignment Form once the paper is accepted for publication. The journal will not publish any article without written consent from the author. The WVSU Research Journal Editorial Consultants reserve the right to accept or reject manuscripts. The decision of the Editorial Consultants is final.

11. Policy Updates

The WVSU Research Journal Editorial Consultants may revise these guidelines to align with current academic publishing standards and journal developments. Authors are encouraged to review the most recent version of the guide before submission.
